Capricorn Somerset Goats Cheese 100g Drum

Our smallest Capricorn Somerset Goats Cheese comes as a 100g drum. It has a delicate velvety soft white coat. When young it is mild and crumbly and has a slightly nutty flavour. As it ripens from the outside towards the centre, the white curd becomes softer and creamier, and develops a fuller flavour.

The cheese is enjoyed at different stages of maturity, younger and firmer cheese is particularly good for crumbling into salads and for grilling. Try cutting in slices or in half, grill and accompany with caramelised onions and a rocket salad. Alternatively, for a very ripe consistency allow the cheese to mature up to the use by date. Serve with a dry white wine, Sauvignon Blanc is a good choice.

Capricorn Somerset Goats Cheese available from the Deli counter Capricorn Somerset Goats Cheese in the Deli

Our Capricorn Somerset Goats Cheese served from the delicatessen counter is cut from a 1kg square cheese. It has the same velvety soft white coat as the Capricorn drum, but ripens more quickly from the outside towards the centre resulting in a delicious creamy, mild yet full flavoured cheese. A good slice from the deli makes an appetising addition to the cheeseboard, serve with sesame crackers, fresh figs and a glass of dry white wine.

Meet the makers of Capricorn Somerset Goats Cheese

We have a loyal team of cheese makers, many of whom have worked for the Lubborn Creamery for all their working lives.

Some of our cheese makers have even been at Lubborn for more than 2 decades!

All of our cheesemakers are passionate about their work and take great pride in producing the very best British soft cheese.

Many of the team worked at the site of our original creamery in Crewkerne. At the new site in the valley of Cricket St Thomas, the cheese making process has essentially remained unchanged, although new technology has improved consistency and quality control, with the pleasing result that customers say our cheese tastes even better!
